Go to where the food is!

Sam Kinison said it best –

“I’m like anyone else on this planet — I’m very moved by world hunger. I see the same commercials, with those little kids, starving, and very depressed. I watch those kids and I go, ‘Fuck, I know the FILM crew could give this kid a sandwich!’ There’s a director five feet away going, ‘DON’T FEED HIM YET! GET THAT SANDWICH OUTTA HERE! IT DOESN’T WORK UNLESS HE LOOKS HUNGRY!!!’ But I’m not trying to make fun of world hunger. Matter of fact, I think I have the answer. You want to stop world hunger? Stop sending these people food. Don’t send these people another bite, folks. You want to send them something, you want to help? Send them U-Hauls. Send them U-Hauls, some luggage, send them a guy out there who says, ‘Hey, we been driving out here every day with your food, for, like, the last thirty or forty years, and we were driving out here today across the desert, and it occurred to us that there wouldn’t BE world hunger, if you people would LIVE WHERE THE FOOD IS! YOU LIVE IN A DESERT! YOU LIVE IN A F**KING DESERT! NOTHING GROWS OUT HERE! NOTHING’S GONNA GROW OUT HERE! YOU SEE THIS? HUH? THIS IS SAND. KNOW WHAT IT’S GONNA BE A HUNDRED YEARS FROM NOW? IT’S GONNA BE SAND! YOU LIVE IN A F**KING DESERT! GET YOUR STUFF, GET YOUR SH*T, WE’LL MAKE ONE TRIP, WE’LL TAKE YOU TO WHERE THE FOOD IS! WE HAVE DESERTS IN AMERICA — WE JUST DON’T LIVE IN THEM, A**HOLES!” Continue reading ‘Go to where the food is!’

if you always do what you always did, you’ll always get what you already got.

I know the grammar is bad – but this is something I have heard from folks who get out of lockdown who want that clean new start on life. We know that they usually end up doing dirt again, and getting caught again, and the beat goes on.

But some of these people took the time to learn a trade, get educated or whatever. They were in a place where they were stripped of everything except time. Time was their only commodity. It was also their burden. So these people took the only thing that they had in abundance – time and used it to their advantage. They leveraged their time to organize their hustle.

While I work, and while I drive and even right now as I type this, I am learning something. At work, I listen to the radio (news, business, current events) and sometimes I listen to podcasts. Podcasts are like MP3s on different things (business, money skills and stuff like that). In the car I listen to books on CD or talk radio. At home I watch business oriented shows like The Big Idea, The Millionaire Inside, Big Spender (Larry Winget), Kitchen Nightmares (I have two food establishments). American Inventor, Suze Orman, Dragon’s Den and on and on. I watch TV that fills my mind with ideas and tools to make a difference in my financial life. I use a Tivo to capture these shows when I am away and watch them at my convenience.

You never know where inspiration will come from. You never know where you will find that next big idea. But I know that if you only fill your head with mind candy, all you will have is mental constipation. Continue reading ‘if you always do what you always did, you’ll always get what you already got.’

If it aint broken, it’s because you aint looking hard enough.

I get emails, phone calls and questions all the time from people trying to find their own “Hustle”.

How do you find a hustle?

What is the right hustle for me?

How do I know the right hustle when I find it?

First, let me define what a hustle is for all of our non-American visitors. A hustle is a culmination of a goal and a vehicle to create personal wealth. A hustle isn’t simply a job, or having something to sell. It is having all the parts to make your business successful. It is the distribution, the marketing, the legal, the suppliers etc etc. A hustle, by all definitions, is a complete business opporunity with a plan for success.

Make sense? Cool, now let’s rock it out.

What we are talking about

I have been staring at the site for few days now and not quite sure how to start. I know that this will not be a site of candy coated, feel good slogans. This is a serious site full of focused and targeted information for people who need a better life.

Yes, NEED.

Having grown up with very little, I am tired of people telling me and those around me that a positive attitude is all it takes to make it in the world. Well I am POSITIVE that doesn’t work for everyone.

My favorite advice is “Find a millionaire and do what they do!” How does this help the person when meeting a millionaire is as likely as meeting a space alien? What if the millionaire in question made their money in newspaper publishing? Are you then supposed to go and start a newspaper? This is crap advice from someone who obviously never met poverty face-to-face.

What seems to be missing out there are real  people who have seen real poverty and made their way out. These are the trailblazers that have made a path for anyone to follow. They have shown that you can make something using only what is at the end of your arms and what is between your ears. Yes, you can make your wealth with hard work and a solid hustle.

I hope you join us on this journey. You will hear stories about my life and the lives of close friends and acquaintances. You will get a little wisdom that has been passed down to me from those older and wiser.

Mostly, you will learn the art of the hustle from true Hustlers
